Byiringiro Lague has revealed that he no longer intends to play for any club in Rwanda after his current contract with Police FC expires.
The forward made the remarks following his indefinite suspension by Police FC over alleged disciplinary issues during the 2025/26 season.
According to the club, Lague was suspended after missing training sessions without properly informing the team about his medical condition. However, the player insists he followed the required procedures and provided medical proof after falling ill.
Speaking in an interview with The Choice Live, Lague said he was surprised by the punishment and claimed he still does not fully understand the reasons behind the suspension.
“My week has been fine despite the controversy. I am not on leave; I was suspended, and there is no reason to hide it,” he said. “They suspended me indefinitely, but honestly, I do not know the exact reason.”
The former APR FC and Rayon Sports winger explained that he became sick after a match and later submitted medical documents to the club’s medical staff and coaching team.
“I left the match because I was unwell, and I provided proof that I went for treatment. Normally, you submit the medical results to the doctor, who then communicates with the coach. That is exactly what I did,” he added.
Lague, who has frequently faced criticism over disciplinary concerns throughout his career, also admitted that he has been arrested multiple times for violating traffic regulations despite playing for a club associated with the Rwanda National Police.
“It has happened three times already. This season alone, it happened twice,” he said while reflecting on his encounters with law enforcement. “But being in prison taught me how to live with different kinds of people.”
The 25-year-old further confirmed that he does not expect to play another match during the remainder of the 2025/26 season. He also dismissed rumors linking him with a possible move to Rayon Sports.
“There will be no more matches for me this season, God willing,” Lague stated. “Playing for Rayon Sports would not happen. I do not want to play for any other club in Rwanda again.”
He added that the level of the Rwandan Premier League no longer matches his personal ambitions as a professional footballer.
“I do not want problems with anyone, but the Rwandan league is not at the level I want to play in,” he explained.
Byiringiro Lague joined Police FC on an 18-month contract and is expected to become a free agent when his deal expires in June 2026.
