Rwandan Coach Innocent Seninga Leaves Djibouti’s AS Port for Coaching Program in United States

Rwandan football coach Innocent Seninga has officially parted ways with Djibouti Premier League side AS Port after securing an opportunity to attend an advanced coaching program in the United States.

Seninga joined AS Port in August 2025 as head coach, with the objective of helping the club compete strongly both domestically and in continental competitions. Although the team did not progress in the CAF Confederation Cup, he guided the club through a strong domestic campaign in Djibouti’s top-flight league and national cup competitions.

According to local media, His departure comes after being selected for a football coaching development initiative organized through a partnership involving the American sports management organization “ProConnect Soccer” and activities linked to the upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup.

The program will allow participating coaches, including Seninga, to receive professional training and observe high-level international football during the tournament scheduled to run from June 11 to July 19, 2026, in the United States.

Seninga leaves AS Port in a strong position in the Djibouti Premier League standings. The club currently leads the table with 24 points, holding a narrow one-point advantage over second-placed Garde-Côtes with six matches remaining in the season.

Under his leadership, the club also secured qualification for the semi-finals of the Djibouti Cup, further strengthening his reputation as one of Rwanda’s experienced football tacticians working abroad.

Before his move to Djibouti, Innocent Seninga coached several clubs in Rwanda, including Etincelles FC, Police FC, Bugesera FC, Musanze FC, and Sunrise FC.

He also previously served as assistant coach of Rwanda’s national football team, Amavubi, and has been involved in coaching education programs organized by FERWAFA, Rwanda’s football governing body.

Seninga’s move to the United States is expected to further expand his international coaching experience as Rwanda continues to produce football professionals gaining recognition beyond the country’s borders.
