Rwanda’s entertainment industry is set to celebrate its growing DJ culture through the upcoming World Wide DJ Awards 2026, an event designed to bring together DJs from across the country for networking, recognition, and professional development.
The awards ceremony is scheduled to take place in June 2026 at Executive Suite, located in the heart of Kigali.
According to INYARWANDA, event organizer Sano Brown said the initiative aims to strengthen unity among DJs while creating a platform where they can discuss the future of their profession.
According to Sano Brown, the DJ industry in Rwanda has expanded significantly in recent years, creating the need for an event that not only celebrates talent but also encourages collaboration and the exchange of ideas among music entertainers.
He said that “The DJ profession has grown tremendously, so we wanted to create an event that brings together people in this industry,” he explained. “DJs entertain many people, and we also want them to have a chance to celebrate themselves, connect with one another, and discuss the future of their career.”
One of the unique aspects of the event is its effort to recognize DJs working outside Kigali. Organizers introduced regional award categories to ensure nationwide representation, including Best Upcountry DJ North, South, East, and West.
The organizers also revealed ambitious long-term plans to expand the awards into an international platform. Their goal is for the event to attract participation from more than 50 countries within the next five years.
The competition will feature several award categories aimed at recognizing excellence and creativity within Rwanda’s DJ industry. These include Best DJ, Best Female DJ, Best Male DJ, Best Club DJ, Best Radio/TV DJ, Best Gospel DJ, and Best Iconic DJ, among others. Rising talents will also be acknowledged through categories dedicated to upcoming male and female DJs.
Beyond the awards, the event will include a red-carpet experience, live DJ performances, appearances by different artists, and discussions focused on the growth and future of the music-mixing profession in Rwanda.
Fans will also have an opportunity to support and vote for their favorite DJs through Festivoz.com , the platform hosting the public voting process.
As Rwanda’s music and nightlife industry continues to evolve, the World Wide DJ Awards 2026 is expected to become one of the country’s major entertainment events celebrating the people behind the music.
