Real Madrid Confirm Dani Carvajal Exit as Historic Era Ends To Day

Dani Carvajal will leave Real Madrid at the end of the 2025/26 season, bringing an emotional end to a remarkable 23 years of journey with the Spanish giants. The club confirmed the news in an official statement released on this Monday. They have described the defender as “one of the greatest legends of our club and world football.”

Carvajal, who joined Madrid’s academy in 2002 as a child, spent 10 years in the youth system before becoming a key figure in the first team for 13 seasons. During that period, he helped lead one of the most successful eras in the club’s history, winning 27 trophies, including six UEFA Champions League titles, six Club World Cups, four La Liga titles, and five UEFA Super Cups.

The 34-year-old leaves the Santiago Bernabéu as one of only five players in football history to win six European Cups. He also made 450 appearances for Los Blancos and scored 14 goals.

In its farewell statement, Real Madrid president Florentino PĂ©rez praised Carvajal’s loyalty and legacy, calling him “a legend and a symbol of Real Madrid and its academy.” PĂ©rez also recalled the iconic image of a young Carvajal laying the first stone of Ciudad Real Madrid alongside the late Alfredo Di StĂ©fano.

Carvajal’s final home appearance is expected to come this Saturday when the Santiago BernabĂ©u pays tribute to the long-serving captain during Madrid’s last La Liga match of the season.

The departure also continues a remarkable trend at the club, with Real Madrid now seeing a captain leave almost every season in recent years. From Sergio Ramos to Marcelo, Karim Benzema, Nacho Fernández, Luka Modrić, and now Carvajal, the club has witnessed the gradual end of the legendary generation that dominated European football for more than a decade.

Despite injuries limiting his influence in the 2025/26 campaign, Carvajal’s legacy remains untouchable among Madrid supporters. He was named in the FIFPro World XI in 2024, won The Best FIFA Men’s World XI award, and was voted Man of the Match in the 2024 Champions League final after scoring in the decisive victory.

Internationally, Carvajal also enjoyed success with Spain national football team, winning UEFA Euro 2024 and the UEFA Nations League in 2023 across 51 appearances.
