The Rwanda Defence Force has officially announced a nationwide military recruitment for new soldiers and Reserve Force set to take place across Rwanda in June 2026.
According to the official notice released by the RDF on X, registration for applicants will begin on May 23, 2026, and continue until June 1, 2026. The recruitment targets young Rwandans interested in joining the military either as regular soldiers or members of the Reserve Force.
The announcement states that candidates applying for regular soldier positions must be Rwandan citizens with good moral character and no criminal record. Applicants are also required to have completed at least Senior Three (S3) education and must be between 18 and 25 years old. In addition, candidates are expected to be physically fit and medically healthy in order to qualify for military service.
For Reserve Force applicants, the RDF announced slightly different academic requirements. Candidates must have completed Advanced Level secondary education (A-Level). Meanwhile, applicants with degrees in specialized fields such as Medicine, Engineering, and Law are eligible up to the age of 27.
The military also emphasized that all applicants must pass the required recruitment examinations and provide several official documents during the process. These include a national identity card, academic certificates, proof of good conduct, and a medical fitness certificate issued by recognized health authorities.
According to the recruitment schedule, physical screening and examinations will take place between June 2 and June 17, 2026, in different districts across the country. In Kigali, recruitment activities will be held in Kicukiro, Gasabo, and Nyarugenge districts at selected stadiums including IPRC Kicukiro Stadium, ULK Stadium, and Kigali Pelé Stadium.
Also activities will extend to all provinces of Rwanda, including Northern, Southern, Eastern, and Western provinces, where recruitment centers have been designated in district stadiums and local government offices. Areas such as Musanze, Rubavu, Huye, Nyagatare, Rusizi, Ngoma, Muhanga, and many others are expected to host recruitment activities on scheduled dates throughout June.
