Real Madrid are reportedly close to finalizing a new contract extension for Antonio Rüdiger after positive negotiations between both parties in recent days. According to reports from Spanish media, the experienced German defender is expected to sign a one-year extension that would keep him at the club until 2027.
Rüdiger’s current contract was initially due to expire in the summer of 2026, creating uncertainty about his long-term future at the Santiago Bernabéu. However, recent discussions between the player and the club reportedly progressed smoothly, with both sides reaching an agreement over the extension. Spanish outlets including Marca and AS report that only final details remain before the deal becomes official.
Although Real Madrid experienced a difficult and inconsistent campaign defensively, Rüdiger remained one of the team’s most reliable performers throughout the season.
Since joining Real Madrid from Chelsea FC on a free transfer in 2022, Rüdiger has established himself as one of Europe’s top defenders. During his time in Spain, he has made more than 180 appearances and helped the club win several major trophies, including the UEFA Champions League, La Liga, the UEFA Super Cup, and the FIFA Club World Cup. His performances during the 2023–24 season were particularly praised as Real Madrid secured both the Champions League and La Liga titles.
Real Madrid are also continuing to plan for the future by monitoring younger defensive talents in Europe while maintaining experienced leaders such as Rüdiger. Club officials reportedly believe his leadership and winning mentality remain crucial for helping younger players adapt to the demands of playing for one of the world’s biggest football clubs.
