JAMMU: Calling for hassle-free issuance of domicile certificates, Jammu & Kashmir lieutenant governor Girish Chandra Murmu on Monday launched an e-application-cum-issuance of domicile certificate, developed by Jammu and Kashmir e-Governance Agency (JaKeGA), at the Raj Bhavan here.
Aaliya Tariq from Sopore in Baramulla district became the first recipient of the domicile certificate through e-mode on Monday.
As per fresh guidelines, permanent resident certificate (PRC) holders and other applicants can apply for issuance of domicile certificate online by providing their Aadhaar number and can receive their certificates through online mode. The PRC holders will be able to receive their domicile certificate through this application without visiting any office.
Bipul Pathak, principal secretary to Murmu, briefed him about the main features of the procedure involved in issuance of the domicile certificate online. J&K chief secretary BVR Subrahmanyam, Bipul Pathak, Baramulla deputy commissioner G N Ittoo and other senior officers were present on the occasion in person and via videoconferencing.
“The domicile certificates must be issued within a stipulated time frame and any laxity or malpractice on the part of the issuing authority shall invite strict administrative action,” the lieutenant governor said. He also directed the upgrade of IT network connectivity in all districts, particularly border and hilly districts, for hassle-free issuance of domicile certificates.
He also advised update and customization of the application with services like SMS alert and directed utilizing services of community information centres (CICs) and common service centres (CSCs) across the UT to assist applicants as a nodal point for filling up e-application forms and provide them with necessary technical support.
